It is said that the clutch is very important, but do you really know it?
Author:
Everyone knows that manual transmission cars will have a clutch pedal. Many people know how to use it, but they may not know how it works.
The clutch is composed of a spring plate, a friction plate, a pressure plate and a power output shaft. It is installed between the engine and the gearbox and is an important part of the transmission system. It is through "off" and "combined" to control the transmission and cut off power. The clutch transmits the power of the engine to the gearbox, and distributes the power to the driving wheels via the gearbox. The clutch has three working states, non-linkage when the clutch is stepped on, full linkage when the clutch is not stepped on, and semi-linkage when it is half stepped on. The normal driving of the vehicle depends on the smooth realization of these three working states.
The main function of the clutch is to ensure the smooth start of the car. The engine is started before the car starts. If there is no clutch to control the power, all the power will be transmitted to the gearbox. As long as the gearbox is in gear, the car will rush forward abruptly. That is what we usually say "jump the car". In the case of semi-linkage, there will be a speed difference between the power input end and the power output end of the clutch to control the size of the transmitted power, so as to achieve the purpose of a smooth start.
Another function of the clutch is to shift gears smoothly. In order to adapt to different road conditions, the transmission system needs to constantly change gears. Gearbox shifting is generally done by shifting gears, so that a certain pair of gears in the original gear is pushed out for transmission, and then another pair of gears is pushed in. At this time, the clutch needs to briefly cut off the engagement between the engine and the gearbox to interrupt the power transmission, so as to reduce the impact force when changing gears, that is, shifting, and achieve a smooth shifting operation.
In addition, the clutch can play a separating role when the car brakes in an emergency, which can protect the transmission. In poor road conditions, the clutch is often the most frequently used component.
From the perspective of types, clutches are divided into four types: electromagnetic clutches, magnetic powder clutches, friction clutches and hydraulic clutches.
The electromagnetic clutch controls the engagement and disengagement of the clutch by turning on and off the coil. Electromagnetic clutches can be divided into: dry multi-disc electromagnetic clutches, dry single-disc electromagnetic clutches, slip electromagnetic clutches, wet multi-disc electromagnetic clutches, magnetic powder clutches, etc., with many types.
When the magnetic powder clutch is energized, the magnetic powder is combined, and the driving part and the driven part rotate at the same time to achieve the purpose of engagement. This kind of clutch can adjust the torque through the current, and the allowable slip is larger, but the temperature will rise when the slip is larger, and the cost is relatively high.
Friction clutch is the most common type of clutch. It is composed of four parts: active part, driven part, operating mechanism, and pressing mechanism. Among them, the main and driven parts and the pressing mechanism are the main structures to ensure that the clutch is engaged and can transmit power.
Hydraulic clutches generally use oil as the medium. Compared with mechanical clutches, they can absorb the impact generated when the driving shaft and the driven shaft rotate.
Manual transmission cars will have a clutch pedal, but automatic transmission cars do not need it, because they all have a thing called automatic clutch. This configuration is also called automatic clutch control system, which is a smart clutch control developed for manual transmission models. The system, by installing an independent system, the microcomputer controls the clutch, so as to achieve the effect of not needing to step on the clutch. It can be said that the automatic car liberates our left leg and greatly reduces the difficulty of driving.
Now the mainstream more reliable three automatic transmission suppliers are: Germany's ZF, Japan's Aisin and also from Japan's Jetkot. These three giants are leading in technology and firmly occupy the 80% share of the global market. In the face of foreign monopolies and patent technology secrecy, independent research and development is not cost-effective, whether in terms of economy, time and energy. Therefore, many independent car companies have turned to research and development with simple structure and low cost. Dual clutch transmission.
Next, let's popularize the dual-clutch transmission. As the name implies, the dual-clutch transmission is equipped with two clutches. Take the 6-speed gear as an example. Two sets of clutches control different gears, and one set of clutches controls gears 1, 3, and 5. The other set controls gears 2, 4, and 6. When we use the first gear, the second gear is ready, and the downshift operation is the same, so the dual clutch transmission shift is very positive. Moreover, the dual-clutch transmission system makes the vehicle more comfortable and can save fuel consumption. However, when driving on a congested road, the dual clutch requires frequent gear shifts, which will cause the clutch to overheat, and in severe cases, it will also cause power interruption.
Speaking of this, I believe everyone has a better understanding of the clutch, which is of great significance to the normal driving of the vehicle. Therefore, in daily use of the car, we must pay more attention to the maintenance of the clutch. The wet electromagnetic clutch must be lubricated between the friction plates when it is working. When the jaw electromagnetic clutch is installed, there must be a gap between the end teeth to make it There will be no tooth grinding phenomenon and so on when idling.

Why does the engine have a flywheel? What does it do? What is the dual-mass flywheel?
Let me ask you a question, why can a car engine run smoothly and continuously? I think everyone will say that the engine is well tuned, the crankshaft is balanced, the fuel system and ignition system are working properly, the multi-cylinder engine does work overlapping, and so on. But many people will ignore a very important factor, that is, the role of the engine flywheel. Many people may not know what the engine flywheel is and where it is. If I tell you that it is installed at the end of the crankshaft, you may not understand it easily. But I'll tell you one thing, and you should know where the flywheel is. When our car starts, it needs a starter to drive the engine
